Materials Needed150 yards of worsted weight yarn / 1 (5.5mm) hook
Gauge6 Double Crochet = 2 inches ch - chain
Abbreviations Usedst - stitch sl st - slip stitch sc - single crochet dc - double crochet yo - yarn over
Special StitchesSide Puff (you will be working over the bar of the dc just made): Yo, [pick up a loop around post of dc just made] 3 times, yo, draw through 6 loops on hook, yo draw through last two hoops
Finished Sizes (laying flat)0-3 Months : 5" x 5.5" 3-6 Months: 6" x 6" 6-12 Months: 6" x 6.5"

0-3 Months

Ch 40 R1: dc in 3rd ch from hook, side puff in the dc just made, \*skip a ch, dc in next ch, side puff in dc just made, rep from \* across R2: ch2 (counts as 1" dc), \*1 dc in next ch, side puff over the dc just made, skip 1 st, rep from \* across, end with 1 dc in last st, turn R3: Rep R2 until piece measures 5.5 inches - do not tie off Fold piece in half and slip stitch alone one side, you will have two sides of your bonnet still open. You may either turn the bonnet inside out at this point or leave it as is, whichever seam you prefer. 3-6 Months Ch42 R1: dc in 3rd ch from hook, side puff in the dc just made, \*skip a ch, dc in next ch, side puff in dc just made, rep from \* across R2: ch2 (counts as 1" dc), \*1 dc in next ch, side puff over the dc just made, skip 1 st, rep from \* across, end with 1 dc in last st, turn R3: Rep R2 until piece measures 6 inches Fold piece in half and slip stitch alone one side, you will have two sides of your bonnet still open.
