Fold-up Brim: 1: k2, wrap & turn (see opposite page), k2 2: k4, w&t, k4 3: k6, w&t, k6 4: k8, w&t, k8 5: k10, w&t, k10 6: k12, w&t, k12 7: k14, w&t, k14 8: k16, w&t, k16 9: k18, w&t, k18 10: k20, w&t, k20 11: k22, w&t, k22 Knit 1 row all the way across, place a marker and join into the round, making sure your stitches are not twisted! Garter stitch edging: \*purl 1 complete round, knit 1 complete round; repeat from \* two more times. Next Round: knit 27, (m1, k5) 3 times. 45 sts. Work in stockinette stitch until hat measures 61/2" from the garter edging (the shorter side without short rows) Crown: Change to dpns when necessary Round 1: \*ssk, k5, k2tog; repeat from \* 4 more times. Round 2: knit Round 3: \*ssk, k3, k2tog; repeat from \* 4 more times. Round 4: knit Round 5: \*ssk, k1, k2tog; repeat from \* 4 more times. Round 6: knit Round 7: \*slip 2, k1, p2sso; repeat from \* 4 more times. Cut yarn leaving a tail and using a tapestry needle, pull through the remaining stitches - I like to go through the stitches twice before pulling them tight, weave in your tail on the inside, making a single knot if desired for added strength. Weave in all ends, and sew button to the folded up brim in your desired location. Wrap & Turn: bring your yarn to the front, slip the next stitch purlwise, bring your yarn back to the back, slip the slipped stitch back over to the left needle, turn your work around and bring the yarn to the back again, your stitch is now "wrapped".
