Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over & pull through loop on hook (2 loops on hook), insert hook into next stitch, yarn over & pull through, yarn over & pull through all 3 loops on hook V st: (dc, ch 1, dc)

Edging (working in rounds):
Round 1: Ch 1, turn, 3 sc in first sc, sc in ea sc across bottom edge of cardigan until last sc, 3 sc in last sc. Turn shrug sideways, working along side edges of shrug, 2 sc in ea dc and sc in ea sc across until top of neckline, turn shrug sideways, 2 sc in next sc, sc in ea sc across top, 2 sc in last sc, turn shrug sideways, working along side edges of shrug, 2 sc in ea dc and sc in ea sc across, join with a sl st to 1st sc. End off.
Sleeves (working in rounds):
Round 1: Before joining yarn, turn cardigan inside out, so right side rows are facing you. Join yarn with a sl st to ch 1 sp from row 8 (underside of arm), sc in ch 1 sp, hdc in next sc, dc in ea sc around arm hole until last dc, hdc in next sc, sc in between last hdc just worked & first sc from beginning of round, join with a sl st to 1st sc: 20 stitches made. Round 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in ea stitch around, join with a sl st to 1st sc: 20 sc made. Round 3: Ch 3, turn, dc in ea sc around, join with a sl st to 1st dc: 20 dc made. Short sleeves: Rounds 4-5: Repeat rounds 2 and 3 once. Round 6: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog in first 2 sc, sc in ea dc around: 19 sc made. End off. Repeat rounds 1-6 for other sleeve. Optional Long sleeves: Rounds 4-9: Repeat rounds 10 and 11 three times. Round 10: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog in first 2 sc, sc in ea dc around: 19 sc made. Weave in ends.
