E.L.F.Caps A Little Something for my Favorite Santa's Helpers
Cozy Quick Lightweight and who can resist a pompom that stands tall on its own peak. And who can resist them on the cutest faces in

the world waiting sweetly for Santa?

Sizes: 3 months to adult
Materials for all sizes:
1 skein red and/or green bulky yarn (90 yards) 1 skein white fur and/or red fur Models made from 1 each red and green Loops and Threads 50% acrylic 50% wool, 94 yards, weight 4 made both 3 month and 1 year sizes Knitting Needles: #15 Double Pointed for body of caps #11 - 16 inch Circular or Double Pointed for peaks Gauge: 10 stitches to 4 inches Sizes: 3-9 months, 1-3 years, 5-young teen, adult, large adult
Begin:
Using#15 needles, Cast on 30 (36, 42, 48, 54) stitches. Carefully join in the round, place marker. Knit 10 (14, 20, 28, 34) rounds or to desired length.
Decrease crown:
\*Knit 3, K3tog do not remove stitches from left needle, knit the first of the three knit together stitches and remove all three sts. Repeat from \* around. \*Knit 2, K3tog do not remove stitches from left needle, knit the first of the three knit together stitches and remove all three sts. Repeat from around. \*Knit 1, K3tog do not remove stitches from left needle, knit the first of the three knit together stitches and remove all three sts. Repeat from \* around. \*Knit3tog do not remove stitches from left needle, knit the first of the three knit together stitches and remove all three sts. Repeat from \* around. K2tog around. There may be an odd number of sts just keep k2tog until 3 to 5 stitches remain. Knit 2 - 5 rounds even. I did 2 rounds for the infant hats. They propped up their pompoms beautifully.
PomPom:
Change to fur yarn, hold it double. Work 2 rows: K, YO, K in each stitch across. Purl l row. Break yarn leaving 12 inch tail. Thread tail on needle and run thru stitches on needle twice pull tightly and remove from needle and secure. Tuck in ends of yarns.
Fur Trim:
Fur trim with Right side facing: and fur yarn held single: pick up stitches along cast on edge, 30 (36, 42, 48, 54) stitches. Knit 3 to 20 rounds or to desired length. (Model infant size has three rounds.) Bind off loosely. Cut and tuck in ends.
Peaks:

With wrong side facing and contrast yarn pick up stitches along cast on edge, 30 (36, 42, 48, 54) stitches. Place marker. Change to smaller needle. Purl 1 round. \*Knit 3, turn, slip 1 knit 2, turn, slip 1, knit 3, turn, slip 1, knit 4, turn, slip 1, knit 4, turn, slip 1, knit 5, turn, slip 1, knit 5, turn, Bind off 6 stitches.\* Repeat between \*s until all stitches used to make points and bound off. Cut and tuck in ends. Finishing: Quick find a head to place cap on!
