I don't know why, but, at the moment, I like indian motifs. So I created this shawl, with some 《 aztecish motifs >. Then, spring came, and the sun shined, I wanted to knit a sun ! It could not be otherwise, I named it Tonatiuh (ask wiki to know why :p) Tonatiuh is a shawl highlighted with some embossed and lace design. You can see 3 differents parts and a edge part. In the mind of the panda (this is my surname), it represents rays of sun increasing. These motifs are alike, and, at the same time, are knitted with different methods, so you won't be bored. )t complicated, you just have to know how to knit and purl front and back loop

Supplies :
Thread : DK/8ply - 590 a 650 meters My version, I used Fonty de Guéret, color 25 terre (100% merino, 50gr = 125m), 237 gr in total (about 595 meters, 4,7 balls). I advise you to use a 《 round 》 thread. Needles 4 mm 1 marker to mark central stitch if you want. Gauge : 22s x 32r = 10 cm in stockinette You do not have to respect the gauge exactly. Extra (or less) 4 stitches will not do a big difference with final size, not to big at least. So choose you thread wisely and in accordance with your expectations. Mensurations : 180 cm end to end. Height : 90 cm.
Abreviations clue 1 :
RS : right side WS : wrong side K: knit P : purl KBL : knit through back loop PBL : purl through back loop

A : Knit. B : Knit through back loop. A': Purl . B': Purl through back loop. DLS : Double loops stitch. Pick a stitch as if you purl. Wrap twice around the needle (picture 1) and pull the double stitch (picture 2).

C4L : Cross 4 stitches left. Unwrap the 4 DLS of previous row (picture 1). Now, you have 4 unwrapped stitches on right needle (picture 2). Pass 1st and 2nd stitiches over 3rd and 4th stitches (pictures 3). The stitches are crossed 《 inside 》 and the visible crossing is leftslanting (picture 4). Put 3rd and 4th stitches back on left needle (be careful not to loose crossing) and knit stitches in that order.

C4R : Cross 4 stitches right. The same way, unwrap 4 stitches of previous row. Put them on left needle (picture 1). Pass 3rd and 4th stitches over 1st and 2nd stitches (picture 2). The stitches are crossed 《 inside 》 and the visible crossing is right-slanting (picture 3). Put 3rd and 4th stitches back on left needle (be careful not to loose crossing) and knit stitches in that order (picture 4).

Patternclue1:
Even rows are wrong side rows, odd rows are right side rows. The number between brackets at the end of a row is the number of stitches after the row has been knitted. ? Rows in bold characters are wrong side rows knitted differently from the usual wrong siderows. Cast on 4 stitches (picture 1) and knit 6 rows (picture 2). Turn the work at 90°, pick up 3 stitches (picture 3). Turn again at 90° and pick up 4 stitches (pictures 4 and 5). Now, you have 11 stitches on your needles (picture 6).
