Reversible Ruby by Doffeliten

This pattern was inspired by a beautiful skein of Artyarns Ensemble Glitter Light, Iris Schreier's awesome cable patterns and by the reversible cables I found on YouTube and the web. I wanted to make a pretty scarf from this beautiful yarn, and so I decided to attempt to design one myself. And here it is. Just be aware that this pattern has not been test knit. I knit it for the first time as I wrote it. Feedback about errors and such is encouraged :-) Yarn: Artyarns Ensemble Glitter Light, 1 skein, or 400 yds yarn of your choice Needle: 4mm Gauge: Not important, you just want your cables to look cohesive but your eyelets to open nicely when blocking. Beads: 90 beads of your choice, I used clear, glass silver lined ones. As for size, just make sure you can thread the yarn doubled through the bead. Fringe: Make sure you reserve the yarn you'll need for the fringe before knitting the scarf. This way you won't have to worry about running out of yarn. If the fringe is to be 5" long you'll need 90 times 10" = 25 yards. Without fringe: If you want to skip the fringe I would recommend doing six rows of garter stitch at either end of the pattern. Size: 8" x 64" after blocking, excluding fringe.
Instructions:
Cast on 45 stitches loosely, or using the knitted method, knit one row. Knit pattern until desired length, remember to finish with row 5. Knit one row, then cast off using a stretchy method. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
Fringe and finishing:
Cut 90 lengths of yarn, each length twice the length of the fringe you want. So, for a 5" fringe you want 90 10" lengths. Thread one length of yarn through each stitch at the beginning and end of your scarf, making sure that the ends of the yarn line up. Thread both ends of each yarn piece through a bead and tie a knot. I used a loop knot that i tightened up right underneath the bead. That way the yarn stays together, if you use a granny knot it will open up. Block and wear. I blocked mine to the width of the beaded edge, but didn't stretch it too much in length since it stretches with wear.
