Slip Stitch Lines

Sock recipe for plainish toe-up socks This is not a whole sock pattern, but rather a recipe to be supplemented with your favourite toe and heel. I prefer using short-row toe and heel constructions. A fabulous one can be bought on Ravelry for US \$ 1,00 from the Sox Therapist: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fish-lips-kiss-heel This is a recipe for making socks which requires some knowledge on sock construction and your preferred sizing. Some hints on sizing are given, based on my gauge and sock size. The recipe gives hints and additional information that can be ignored ifyou use a different toe and / or heel construction or do not need a mini-gusset with the FLK heel.

Instructions:

With size 2.5mm needle and using your preferred toe construction, cast on and work to a toe box of 5.5 cm length and 57 stitches circumference. Divide your work in 29 instep stitches and 28 sole stitches. The instep stitches are the beginning of your round. Knit 1 row in the round. Start pattern on 29 instep stitches: Start with 1 stitch with slipping the yarn around the needle twice, then work the stitch pattern, ending with 1 stitch with slipping the yarn around the needle twice Knit the sole stitches in plain stockinette. This applies for all rows! Work 65 rows in this established mode. Work your preferred short row heel in row 66. Continue in the round, working 13 rows with pattern on instep stitches and plain stockinette on the back of the leg (the former sole stitches) in Row 14 after the heel, decrease the stitches on the back of the leg by one by ending the sole stitches with k2tof, k1. In row 16, start with working patterning on instep stitches, ssk (left-leaning decrease, slip slip knit) the last stitch of the instep stitches and the first stitch of the sole stitches, transferring that stitch to the sole stitches, Start working pattern on the back of the leg with the next row 1. Knit to your preferred length (minus about 1 inch) in patterning., ending with row 4. Switch to size 2.25mm needle and work 12 rows of 2x2 ribbing. Personally, I like to use the Fish Lips Kiss Heel method for the toes as well: with a provisional cast on cast on 29 stitches work a FLK toe on 1+10+7+10+1 stitches. Pick up 28 sole stitches from provisional cast on (the provisional cast on will give you one stitch less for the sole as needed) I need a mini-gusset for my socks with the FLK Heel. After 52 rows I start the shaping of the mini gusset: kfb at each end ofsole stitches every 3rd row 4 times. This gives me 64 rows and 36 sole stitches. In row 66 do the FLK heelon1+2+9+12+9+1+2 stitches and continue in the round. I then get rid off the mini-gusset by decreasing by 1 on each side 4 times in every 3rd row (12 rows). Knit one row in established pattern (13 rows).

I knit 60 rows

I very much like Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind off (JSSBO): http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfal 109/FEATjssbo.php Weave in ends.

Enjoy!
