Trinity Prayer Shawl
@2015 Lori Frejek, Matlock, Manitoba, Canada Now these three remain Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is Love. (1 Corinthians 13:13)

I designed this shawl in memory of a woman of simple beauty. She taught me by her example how to live a life of Faith, how to trust in the Lord for Hope, and how to give unconditional Love to every person I meet. I LoveYou Mom. This pattern is not to be sold. As compensation for the use of this design, make a prayer shawl and donate it to your local cancer centre, palliative care facility, or a friend who is in need of comforting. If you want to duplicate the pattern and pass it on, PLEASE DO SO! With the stipulation that each successive recipient

(Garter Stitch shawl) of the pattern also makes a shawl to pass on the love. (Trinity Rosebud shawl) The pattern for this shawl is based on three, like the Trinity, adding three stitches representing Faith, Hope and Love to every row, which creates a beautiful organic curve, perfect for hand spun, hand painted or gradient dyed yarns. You have 3 options; a Garter Stitch shawl, or if you want a challenge you can make an Oyster stitch shawl, or a Trinity Rosebud Shawl. The last row and cast-off for all three shawls is the same and requires about 50 metres of yarn, so if you weigh your yarn and calculate how much one metre weighs you can adjust the yardage to the amount of yarn in one skein. Making this pattern perfect for show casing that one skien of beautiful yarn you spun yourself, or you just had to have. You will need: - a circular needle at least 24"long, and about 500 metres of fingering weight yarn. The Garter Stitch and Oyster stitch shawls can be made with any weight yarn and at any gauge (just be sure your gauge is loose so the shawl has a nice drape to it and you will need fewer metres of the thicker yarns) For the Trinity Rosebud Shawl you will need 500 meters of fingering weight yarn as the lace pattern does not drape well in a thicker yarn.
