Shown in Columbine. Needles: One US 0 (2.0mm) 32" circular needle (for magic loop), or two Us 0 (2.0mm) 16" circular needles. Finished sizes: US women's size 7-9 shoe, expect 8 in/20.5 cm. Notes: Due to the nature of this pattern, sizing is adjusted by going up a needle size. Be sure to select a sock yarn that is slightly thicker and plan to use the larger needle. Instuctions

Using your preferred method, co 70 sts. Pm and join in the round. work in Twisted Ribbing for approximately 1 inch/2.5 cm. Twisted Ribbing: \*k1 tbl, p1, repeat fom \* to end. Switch to chart (next page). For the leg, knit across entire chart (35 sts) twice. Continue knitting chart pattern until desired leg length is achieved, ending on Row 1, 4, 5, or 8.
Hteel Flap
The heel is knit back and forth across half of the sts. Row 1: \*sl1, k1, repeat from \* to last 2 sts, k2tog, turn work. (34 sts remain) Row 2: sll, p to end, turn work. Row 3: \*sll, k1, repeat from \* to end, turn work. Row 4: sll, p to end, turn work. Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until you have 15 slipped stitches on each edge. For a higher instep, work additional rows, making sure to decrease to compensate. End with a wS row. teel tuwun (Rs) Row 1: k17, sk, k1, turn work. (Ws) Row 2: sll, p3, p2tog, p1, turn work. Pick up and knit every slipped stitch along the edge of the heel flap. Work the foot sts in chart, working k2tog in the final 2 sts (ending with the blue line, 34 sts total). Pick up and knit every slipped stitch along the other side of the heel.
Qusset decreases
Continue knitting the instep sts, while keeping the foot sts in pattern. Decrease as follows: Row 1: Beginning with heel sts, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Continue foot pattern (ending with the blue line). kl, ssk, k across heel. Row 2: K all heel sts, continue knitting foot in pattern. Stop decreasing after you have 34 sts for the instep (68 sts total). Continue knitting in pattern until foot is 2 in/5 cm from desired length.
Foe decreases
Beginning with the instep, decrease as follows: Row 1: [instep] k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1. [foot] k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1. Row 2: k all sts. Repeat until 28 sts remain (14 instep, 14 foot). Graft toe and weave in ends.
