by Alice Liotto Prismatic shape container knitted in one piece, seamless

Size: cm 20.5 x 12 x 16.5(h) Yarn: any aran or bulky: 65 gr; needles 5.5. Knit with needles smaller than usual to get a firmer fabric. The container is knitted in two steps: in the first after casting on you make 3 sides of the box; in the second by binding off the stitches gradually you build the last two sides.
Step 1
First and last stitches - selvedge stitches - abbreviated as sdg are always knitted in the end of the row and slipped at the beginning. Only in the first row R1 they are both knitted (first st. and last st.). In the following chart the odd rows are the wrong side and even rows the right side.

Continue in the same way to the desired height (in the photo about 15 cm). In the example the last row (ws) is: sdg, 24k, 1p, 24k, 1p,13k, 1p, 24k, 1p, 24k, sdg You will get a rectangle composed of a central rectangle and 2 squares on the sides. Cut the yarn.

Step 2
In the following step you are going to knit only the stitches of the middle section decreasing one from the stitches remainingat eachside inthe end ofevery row. Move the stitches to 3 needles as shown in the photo; if single pointed needles are used, keep the tip of the central needle (grey in the photo) on the right (on the left if you are left handed and mirror knitter).

R1 RS slip 1 ,k13, slip the last stitch, knit first st. from second needle, pass slipped st. over, turn. R2 Ws slip 1, k13, slip last st. as if to purl, purl first st. from the second needle, pass slipped st. over turn. Note: When decreasing the stitches, keep always the crease stitch over the side stitch. Repeat R1 and R2 until there are 16 sts. Bind off. Bind off the last 3 stitches together (the middle crease stitch over the 2 side sts).
