Part 1: The Ruffle

Cast on 224 (288, 352) stitches. Yes, seriously. For mine, I did the whole ruffe flat, then joined it later. Because no one wants to cast on 224 stitches again. Join to knit in the round if you hadn't already. Knit one round. Knit plain until your hat measures 5.5" (6.5", 7.5") to the ruffle.

Part 3: Crown Decreases

Row1: $^{\star}\mathsf{k}\mathsf{6}$ (8, 10), k2tog, rep from \* to end. You may wish to mark your decreases instead of counting around. Row 2: Knit allstitches Row3: $^{\star}\mathsf{k}5$ (7, 9), k2tog, rep from \* to end Continue decreasing in this manner, alternating decrease and knit-plain rows until you've k2toged across. Break yarn and pull through the remaining stitches, weaving in the end.

Part 4: Woo Hoo, I-cord

Cast on 3 stitches, leaving a couple inches of tail. You'll use this to sew the strap to the hat later. Work 15 inches of I-cord. Bind off and weave in the end. Repeat to make a second strap. Finish the hat by sewing the two I-cord straps to each side of the hat using the tail left over from casting on.
