ESSEX Buttoned Headband
Begin
Approximate Measurements: One size to fit most 20" in diameter X 4" height Materials: Essex (100g) - 1 ball, color # 5000 Gauge: 12 sts, 16 rows = 4" in St St size US 11 (8 mm) needle, or size needed to obtain gauge. Needles: US size 11 (8mm) needles, 1 large button, matching thread and sewing needle, tapestry needle.
PLAIT STITCH PATTERN:
Row 1: (Ws) \*p2, k1; rep from \* to last 2 sts, p2. Row 2: (RS) \* Skip first st, knit 2nd st and pass over 1" st, knit first st, p1; repeat from \* to last 2 sts-Skip first st, knit 2"d st and pass Over 1st st, knit first st. Repeat rows 1 and 2 for pattern. Cast on 10 sts. Work in K1/P1 rib for 2". Next row, (RS) kfb of every st. (20 sts). Next row is a WS row. Work in Plait Stitch Pattern until piece measures 18" from cast on edge. End on a RS row. Next WS row, p2 tog across the row. (10 sts). Work 5 rows in K1/P1 rib. Create Buttonhole as follows: K1/P1 for 4 sts. Bind off center 2 sts, k1/p1 on last 4 sts. Next row, K1/P1 for 4 sts, cable cast on 2 sts over the bound off sts from previous row, k1/p1 to end of row. Work 2 more rows. Bind off in pattern.
Finishing
Sew button to correspond with buttonhole on the cast on side of headband. Weave in all ends. ①2014 Plymouth Yarn Company. 022814 cab
