Materials:
Oddments of sock yarn in the following house colours: Gryffindor: main colour $=$ red, contrast colour $=$ yellow Slytherin: main colour $=$ green, contrast colour $=\operatorname{grey}$ Hufflepuff: main colour $=$ yellow, contrast colour $=$ black Ravenclaw: main colour $=$ blue, contrast colour $=$ bronze 2.5mm needles (5 double pointed, or 2 circular sock needles, or 1 circular for magic loop) 1 darning needle (for finishing)
Tension:
10 stitches and 12 rounds $=$ 1" square
Abbreviations:
K - Knit. P - Purl. S - Slip stitch unworked onto the right needle. K2T - Knit two stitches together as though they are one stitch. P2T - Purl two stitches together as though they are one stitch. SSK - Slip next two stitches knitwise then knit them together from the right hand needle. BYF - Bring yarn forward. KWWT- Slip the needle through the next stitch and down through its 2 wraps and knit together. PWWT - Slip the needle through the next stitch and down through its 2 wraps and purl together. WWKT - Slip the needle up through the 2 wraps and the stitch they hold and knit together. Instructions: Cast on 24 stitches using the main colour yarn for the chosen house, leaving a 10-inch tail Cuff Work 4 rounds of K2P2 rib. Leg Knit 18 rounds.
Heel
Place 12 stitches on a stitch holder (or spare yarn, or keep them on the cable if using magic loop or 2 circular needles technique). With the remaining 12 stitches work the following rows to shape a heel by wrapping stitches and then leaving them on the needle until worked back into the work by wrapping them again. Row 1: K11, BYF, S1, turn. Row 2: BYF, S1, P10, S1, turn. Row 3: BYF, S1, K9, BYF, S1, turn. Row 4: BYF, S1, P8, S1, turn. Row 5: BYF, S1, K7, BYF, S1, turn. Row 6: BYF, S1, P6, S1, turn. Row 7: BYF, S1, K5, BYF, S1, turn. Row 8: BYF, S1, P4, S1, turn. Row 9: BYF, S1,K4, BYF, S1 Row 10: BYF, S1, P4, S1, turn. Row 11: BYF, S1, K4, KWWT, BYF, S1, turn. Foot
Knit across the 12 set aside leg stitches, WWKT the next stitch which was wrapped between rows 16 and 17 of the heel, and knit across all heel stitches to complete the first round of the foot. Knit a further 14 rounds.
Round 1: (K1, SSK, K6, K2T, K1) twice.
Round 2: K20. Round 3: (K1, SSK, K4, K2T, K1) twice. Round 4: K16. Round 5: (K1, SSK, K2, K2T, K1) twice. Round 6: (K1, SSK, K2T, K1) twice. Break off the yarn leaving an 8 inch tail, thread onto a darning needle and Kitchener the remaining 8 stitches together.
Decoration
Using the contrast colour yarn for the chosen house, and working in duplicate stitch apply the decoration to the sock,folwing the appropriate char. To positon it, start by working a single round of duplicate stitch 2 rounds below the cuff to make the top stripe band.

Finishing
Using the cuff cast on tail, weave in to the edge of the cuff, make a hanging loop, and weave in the end to secure. Weave in all other ends to finish off.
