False Rib Cowl Knitting Pattern: A Simple and Stylish Accessory for Any Gender

False Rib Cowl

Pattern illustration

This simple cowl is a great fit for any self-striping worsted yarn. However, I imagine it would also do very well in a solid yarn as an understated accessory appropriate for any gender. After the initial cast-on, the pattern is easily memorizable - great for TV or commuter knitting, and also appropriate for beginners just learning to work in the round. Gauge is not really important for this project, but I provide it anyway in case you want to get the exact dimensions shown.

Needles: size 8 circulars

Yarn: 1 skein of Bernat Mosaic (209 yards) or other worsted self-striping yarn (though if you're risk-averse I recommend getting an extra skein for insurance; I cut it very close) Gauge: 6.5 sts/13 rows per 2 inches Blocked dimensions: 7.5 inches wide by 43 inches around
