Instructions:

With a piece of scrap yarn (of same weight but contrasting colour compared to working yarn) CO 43 stitches. Then switch to working yarn and repeat row 1 and 2 of Northwest stitch pattern till you reach a height of approximately 55" from cast on edge. Take a second gauge needle, remove the scrap yarn from cast on edge and place live stitches onto the second needle. Place the ends of the cowl with their right sides facing inwards and hold needles with live stitches parallel to each other. In this way the cast on edge is in front and the end is in the back. Take a third needle, gauge or bigger and insert it knitwise into the first stitch that is facing you and into the first stitch of the back needle. Knit those two stitches together. You now have 1 stitch on your third needle. Knit the second stitch of the front and the back needle together in the same way. You now have 2 stitches on your third needle. With the needle that carries the cast on stitches slip first stitch on the third needle over the second stitch on the third needle as in a regular bind off. Continue in this way until all stitches are bound off. Weave in ends. This pattern is for personal use only.
