Waffle Crochet Dishcloth
by Chip Flory (chippukun on Ravelry.com) I'm sure that I'm not the first to come up with a waffle stitch pattern similar to this. I didn't see anything exactly like it on Ravelry and thought I'd share. Yarn: 100% Cotton Worsted Weight Hook: H8 (5mm) Finished Size: Approx. 7 x 7 inches ch chain hdc half double crochet dc double crochet st stitch FPdc front post double crochet Note: To alter pattern to match desired gauge, the starting chain must be in multiples of 3 (the number of boxes going across) plus 2, with an additional 3 for the turning chain. Just work Rows 2 and 3 until nearly square, finishing with Row 2. The instructions below will create a design with rows of 6 boxes (6 x 3 = 18, 18 + 2 + 3 = 23). Start: ch 23 Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across Row 2: ch 2, turn; skip first st, dc in next dc, (FPdc around next two dc, dc in next dc) across; dc in top of turning ch (2"d chain) Row 3: ch 2, turn; skip first st, FPdc around next dc, (dc in next two FPdc, FPdc around next dc) across; dc in top of turning ch Rows 4 - 11: Repeat Rows 2 and 3 four times. Row 12: Repeat Row 2. Edging: With right side facing, ch 2, 1 hdc between each st to the corner; 3 hdc in corner. Working in spaces from final dc and turning ch down the side, work (2 hdc in the next space, 1 hdc in the next) to the corner; 3 hdc in the corner. 1 hdc between each st to the corner; 3 hdc in the corner. Work (2 hdc in the next space, 1 hdc in the next) down the side to the final corner. 2 hdc in the final corner; connect to 2"d starting chain with slip st; finish off.
