You will need Small amounts of worsted weight yarn in pale blue and white- I recommend either cheap acrylic or a sturdy wool, something that will give the wings added stiffness. I used Caron Simply Soft for the ball and Red Heart Super Saver for the wings. A set of size 3.5mm double pointed needles or circular needles Yarn needle Crochet hook Gauge is not important, as long as your stitches are tight enough to keep the stuffing in. Using larger or smaller yarn and needles will result in changes in size. With a gauge of approximately 6 stitches per inch the finished piece measures 10 inches from wing tip to wing tip and 6 % inches from top to bottom. Body
Cast on 6 stitches over 3 needles and join in the round
1. Knit 2. Kfb every stitch (12sts) 3. Knit 4. \* kfb, k1\* repeat around (18sts) 5. Knit 6. \*kfb, K2\* repeat around (24sts) 7. Knit 8. \*kfb, k3\* repeat around (30sts) 9. Knit 10. \*kfb, k4\* repeat around (36sts) 11. Knit 12. \*kfb, k5\* repeat around (42sts) 13-19. knit for 7 rows 20. \*K2tog, k5\* repeat around (36sts) 21. Knit 22. \*K2tog, k4\* repeat around (30sts) 23. Knit 24. \*K2tog, k3\* repeat around (24sts) 25. Knit 26. \*K2tog, K2\* repeat around (18sts) 27. Knit Stuff the ball firmly 28. \*K2tog, k1\* repeat around (12sts) 29. Knit 30. \*K2tog \* repeat around (6sts) Finish stuffing the ball, if needed. Cut yarn and thread through the remaining 6 stitches and secure, tucking the tails into the ball.
Top Wing (make 2)
Cast on 8 stitches over 2 dpns leaving a long tail for sewing to the body 1-3. knit three rounds 4. K3, ml, kl, kl, ml, k3 5. Knit 6. K4, m1, kl, kl, m1, k4 7. Knit 8. K5, ml, k1, kl, m1, k5 9. Knit 10. K6, m1, k1, kl, m1, k6 11. Knit 12. K7, m1, kl, ml, k7 13. Knit 14. K8, m1, kl, ml, k8 15. Knit 16. K9, m1, k1, m1, k9 17-18 knit 2 rows 19- K9, k2tog, ssk, k9 20. Knit 21. Cut yarn, pull through remaining stitches and draw end into the wing
Making up
Stitch the wings onto the body, using the photo as a guide.
