Virus Hat

Approx 120m, 4ply sock yarn 4.0mm and 3.25mm hooks

Pattern

Using 4mm hook. Ch4 and join to make a ring - into this work 8hdc (8sts) slst close. Work 2hdc into each st & slst close (16sts) Ch3 (counts as 1st dc), \*2dc in next st, dc1\* repeat round and slst closed (24sts) Ch3 (counts as 1st dc) dc1 in next st, \*2dc in next st, dc2\* repeat round and slst closed (32sts). Ch3 (counts as 1st dc), dc2, \*2dc in next st, dc3\* repeat round and slst closed (40sts). Ch3 (counts as 1st dc), dc3, \*2dc in next st, dc4\* repeat round and slst closed (48sts). Change to 3.25mm hook - work as follows. ch1 sp) dc, ch1 all the way round, slst closed to 3rd ch of ? Slst into ch1 sp \*ch7, skip (dc, ch1, dc) and sc into next ch1 sp, [ch4, skip (dc, ch1, dc) and sc into next ch1 sp] x3\* repeat this round (6 repeats in total)

Close round with a slst into the base of the Ch7.

Round One

Slst into ch7 and ch3 (counts as 1t dc) dc9 more,\*sc into 1st ch4 loop, ch4, sc into 2nd ch4 loop, ch4, sc into 3rd ch4 loop. Work 10dc in next ch7 loop\* repeat round - Vhen you get back to start continue with 2nd row of virus -

Round Two

Sc into 1st ch4 loop, ch4, sc into 2nd ch4 loop, work 10dc into the 10dc from previous round to end on.

Round Three

Dc and ch1, (in 1st of 10dc from previous round) continue to work dc ch1 until 1oth st, then (no ch1) work dc ch1 in next set of 10sts - on last one slst to 3rd ch of the ch4 start. This is 1st repeat of the virus pattern worked to carry on - Slst into 1st ch1 sp, slst into 2nd ch1 sp, ch7 and turn -

\*skip, dc, ch1, dc, dc, ch1, dc and sc in space shown above - Then [ch4, skip (dc,ch1,dc) sc in next ch1 sp] x 3, ch7\* repeat around and carry on as before. I made a beanie style hat and worked 6 full repeats of the virus pattern, for a bigger hat simply work more repeats.
