Materials
You can use any 4-ply sports yarn with the corresponding crochet hook, I did use 100 % 4 ply cotton yarn (Catania from Schachenmayr) ·Main color for bag ·Contrast color for edge of bag and band Color for squirrel 2 black beads (4 mm) for nose and eye 6 coloured beads (3 mm) Polyester fiberfill Embroidery needle to fix squirrel on bag Sewing yarn and needle for attaching eye and nose
Abbreviations
US Crochet Terms ch = chain sC = single crochet st = stitch sl st = sl stip stitch hdc = half double crochet dc = double crochet tr = trebble R = round / row tog = together rep = repeat S are made in continuous rounds if not otherways stated. Mark first stitch of every rount Change color: Pull thread in new color throught last two loops of last stitch in old color. Fix ends of threads with a knot.
Bag
ch 4 in main color, join with sl st to form ring R 1: 1sc in next two sts into ring = 12 R 2: (sc, 2 sc in next st) rep around = 18 R 3: (sc in next two sts, 2 sc in next st) rep around = 24 R 4: (2 sc in next st, 3 sc) rep around = 30 R 5-30: sc in each st around = 30 Changeto contrast color in last st of R30 R 31: sc in each st around = 30 R 32: (ch2, dc) in each st around, joinwithsl stintofirstst,ch42,fastenoff. Join yarn to last st of R 32: ch 42, fasten off. Weave both chains into loops of R 32, decorate end of chains with 3 colored beads each.

Sew a little black bead (0 4 mm) or safety eye at the front of head (into very first ch) as nose and one bead at the side of head. Stuff head.

Finishing

Pin all pieces of the squirrel onto bag and sew them onto bag in the following order: Foot, tummy, hand, head, ears, tail. Take care to join seams of the backside of tummy and tail not leaving a free space. Stuff tail loosely before closing the last part of seam.
