DIRECTIONS
Cast on 251 stitches (or another odd number for a shorter or longer scarf) using a chained crochet cast-on around yourknitting needle. Row 1 - \*K1, s1yif\*; repeat across row, ending with K1 Row 2 - K1, p1, \*s1yib, p1\*; repeat from \* to \* across row, ending with K1. Repeat Rows 1 - 2 until the scarf is the desired width (keep in mind that the scarf will stretch and thin when worn).End with a WS row. Cast off loosely. Cut 42 - 12" long pieces of yarn for tassels. In groups of 3 strands, attach seven tassels to each end of scarf using crochet hook. You can pull any yarn ends into the closest tassel rather than sewing them into the scarf.
Crochet Version (inner scarf)
34" long 1 skein sock yarn (sample is crocheted in Supersocke Cotton #1043) Crochet hook- size F Tapestryneedle 14 sts = 4 in/10 cm in pattern st GAUGE
DIRECTIONS
Chain 211 (or another odd number for a shorter or longer scarf). Starting in 2nd chain from hook, pick up the back bump of each ch and sc across row. Pattern Row: Ch 1, sk 1st st, \*sc 1, sc 1 in stitch below (SiB1). Repeat from \* to \*, ending with a sc in turn chain. Repeat pattern row to desired width of scarf. With remaining yarn, cut 48 strips 81/2” long for fringe. Holding 3 strands of yarn together, make 8 fringes on each short end of scarf.
