★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ CO 88 sts with yellow yarn and larger needles. Work in garter sts for 6 rows with smaller needles. Change to blue and red yarn, and larger needles. Round 1: \*K 7 blue, 7 red\* three times, k 8 blue, \* k7 red, 7 blue\* three times, end with 7 red and at the same time k 11, m 1, throughout the round $(=99$ sts) Round 2 - 5: Work st sts in vertical stripes, blue over blue, red over red. Round 6: Work the first four vertical stripes. Then start working according to chart. End round with the last five vertical stripes. Continue like this till chart is finished. (You will embroider the lion in duplicate sts afterwards. You can work the shield all in blue, or, to avoid long floats, you can work the lion in red and then embroider the red sts). After the chart, continue working vertical stripes in red and blue over the shield. On first round k2tog in the middle of the central blue stripe, so every stripe is 7 sts wide $(=98$ sts). Work 6 rounds before decreases (more or less if you want a smaller or a bigger hat). Decrease rounds: ssk, work till 2 sts remain of vertical stripe, k2tog (28 sts decreased). Work 4 rounds without decreasing between each decrease round. After $3^{\mathsf{r d}}$ decreas round, there are 14 sts. Continue in stripes for two rounds. Cut red yarn. K2tog with blue yarn. Cut yarn and draw yarn through rem sts.

Finishing: Sew together the garter sts brim. With duplicate sts, embroider the yellow lion. With white yarn, make a five pointed star. Make a pom-pom and fasten it well to top of hat.
