Pumpkin Vine Booties
By Theresa Harmless Archer These are similar to a mary jane bootie but have a double cross over strap. These are about 4 inches long or should fit a toddler size 6-7 shoe. Materials size 6 dpns 2 buttons 2 stitch markers stitch holder mc orange sc green gauge worsted weight 6 rows and 5 stitches in 1 inch on size 6
To make 1 (m1) lift yarn in between stiches and knit it as a stitch 3 stitch i-cord knit 3 st on dpns but instead of turning work at end slide stiches to right side of needle and knit the stitches again 3 needle join hold both needles of yarns you wish to knit parralell to each other and place needle into both loops one of each yarn and knit as usual. This is similar to 3 needle bind off except you are not binding off as the end step
Bootie
Cast on in mc 15 st knit 7 place marker (pm) k1 (pm) knit to end knit 1 m1 knit to marker m1 slip marker k1 slip marker m1 knit to last st m1 k1 (19 st) continue until you have 47 st knit 7 rows knit 6 st and place on holder knit 19 st slip 1 k1 psso turn work row 2 sl 1 knit 7 sl1 pss0 continue rows 1 and 2 until you have 33 st remaining. After the last p2 tog knit to end of row
knit 6 st bind off to last 6 st knit to end. You should have 12 st 6 on each side. This is the back of the bootie. You will now join the 2 ends together by knitting across the 12st knit 2 rows and set aside cut mc
Straps
cast on 1 increase 1 (2 st) increase 2 (4 st) increase 1 k2 inc 1 (6 st) k1p1 to end p1 k1 to end k2 tog k1p1 k2 tog (4 st) k1 k2 tog k1 (3 st) --.!.- -.1 when you get to 4 inches and have knit across the 2 st hold the mc st on the one needle parralel with the needle with the i-cord on it. Knit the mc and sc togther. Continue in I-cord and 3 needle join until all 12 mc stitches have been joined.
Continue in 3 st I-cord for 4 more inches. K1 inc 1 k1 (4 st) inc 1 p1k1 inc 1 (6 st) p1 k1 k1 p1 k2 tog k2 k2 tog k2 tog x2 k2 tog cross left strap over right side and tack to top of bootie where the decreases were. Sew button to left side of bootie do opposite for other bootie straps.
