Tummelum by Susanne Reese
Stretchy reversible beanie.

Materials About 65 g Wollmeise or any other fingering weight yarn, circular needles 2.25 and 3.25 mm, long enough for magic loop Scrap yarn in contrasting color, crochet hook size 3,5 mm (optional) Gauge in brioche stitch and needle 3.25 mm: 26 st x 60 rounds. Don't worry if your gauge ist different in case the cuff fits well. Instructions: CO 56 st with needle 3.25 in scrap yarn with long tail CO Cut yarn and tie ends together. Optional: use a crocheted chain. Change to needle 2.25 and knit with main yarn.

Knit setup-row as followed: \*k1 in each k-st of CO (or back loop of crochet chain) YO\* Continue to the end of the CO-row, k 1 = 111 st. 1. - 2. row: k1 \*sl1pwwyif, k1\* to end, slip last stitch pwwyif Close to round being careful not to twist the stitches, continue in half-brioche pattern, at the end of the round m1pw from the thread before 1st st.
Half-brioche-pattern A: (hbpA)
1. rd: \*K1 - bring yarn to front, sl1pw, bring yarn over the needle to back\* 2. rd: \*k1 - purl 1 together with its YO\* 3. - 6. rd: repeat rd 1 and 2 twice Half-brioche-pattern B: (hbpB) 7. rd: \* Bring yarn to front, sl1pw, bring yarn over the needle to back - k1\* 8. rd: \*p1 with its YO - k1\* Now you can take out the scrap yarn CO-st by cutting the thread carefully / unraveling the crocheted stitches.
Pattern:

Change to bigger needle and continue in half-brioche pattern A + B (rows 1-12), knit about 6 repeats (about 14 cm), ending with round 6 or 12. For a more or less slouchy hat knit more/ less repeats up to 13-14 or 15-16 cm. The garment is really stretchy and fits to all sizes, s0 you can adjust your size easily by adding/substracting repeats.
Decrease section:
Work all decreases in a rd. 1 or 7 instead of k1, sl1pwwyif, k1 like this: slip first stitch as if to knit, slip next two stitches together as if to knit, slip all three stitches back onto the left needle, p3tog (dec2). The decreases should be spread evenly over the round, but the pattern is very forgiving if you should miss a decrease. Make the next one and continue in pattern. The decreases are subtle and not characteristic for the pattern. Decreases per round: rd 1: 4 times (rem. 104): 13 - dec2 - 25- dec2 - 25 - dec2 - 25 - dec2 - 12 rd 7: 4 times (rem 96): \*23- dec2\* rd 13: 8 times (rem 80): 5 - \*dec2 - 9\* 7 times - dec2 - 3 rd 19: 8 times (rem 64): \*7 - dec2\* rd 25: 8 times (rem 48): 3- \*dec2 - 5\* 7 times - dec2 - 2 rd 31: 8 times (rem 32): 2- \*dec2 - 3\* 7 times - dec2 - 1 rd 36: 8 times (rem 16): \*dec2 - 1\* 8 times Next 3 rds: \* k1, p1 \* Next rd: \* k2 tog \* (8) Cut yarn, sew end twice through remaining stitches, weave in loose ends.
