Using a 4 mm crochet hook and your working yarn, chain 705 (permanent chain), placing stitch markers after every 50 sts. Then pick up every other stitch with a 4 mm circular knitting needle, 353 sts in all. (Do not pick up the sts in between.) In row 0 (WS row), purl all sts. Continue working according to chart Ne 1, "Leaves", for 10 rows, placing stitch markers between the individual pattern repeats. In all subsequent WS rows (even row numbers), purl all stitches, too. Starting with row 11 (311 sts), work from chart No 2, "Roses" - 11 pattern repeats and 38rows. Starting with row 38 (223 sts), work the upper crescent-shaped part of the shawl using short rows (no decreases), with yarnovers at the turns. After every two sts knitted together, inc by 4 sts (one of the 4 being the turning yarnover from the previous row). In the upper part, work pattern strip according to chart No 3 over 10 rows.
