Alpaca Cowl
Materials: Ewetopia's hand-dyed 100% superfine alpaca, 1/2 skein (300 yds) in Sunburn or color of your choice; size 6 needles. (did not use full skein) Gauge: 20 sts = approximately 4" (10 cm) Exact gauge is not crucial. Finished size: approx 9" x 42" Lace pattern: Row 1(RS): Knit Row 2 and all ws rows: K2 tog,K1, purl across to next to last st; knit into front and back of last stitch Row 3: Repeat row 1 Row 5: K1, \* K2 tog, yo, repeat from \* to next to last st; K1
INSTRUCTIONS
CO 4 sts. P 1 row. Begin lace pattern, except increase by knitting into front and back of first stitch (do not knit 2 together) on WS rows. Cont until you have increased to 46 stitches, ending wrong side. Work in lace pattern until long side measures 42 inches. Work 3 repeats (36 rows) of spider lace pattern. Continue lace pattern, except decrease by ssk at the end of ench wS row. Continue until you have decreased to 4 stitched. Bind off. Sew short end together to form a loop. Loop may be scrunched or folded lengthwise for wearing as a cowl, or unfolded and pulled over the head as a hood.
