Iceblue Scarf

Material: 90 % Babyalpaka and 10% Merino, length 600 m / 100 g You can use any other kind of lace yarn or sox yarn. Then the scarf maybe will become longer/shorter or wider/narrower. Needle size: 4.00 mm needles Consumption: 93 gram which is 558 m Measurements: 210 cm long und 36 cm wide The scarf is worked from the middle in both directions so that you get a harmonious look. Besides you get a diamond pattern in the middle of the scarf.

Cast on: Crochet 62 chain stitches. From these stitches cast on 57 stitches with the knitting needles and purl one row. Pattern: Start with chart 1. All back rows are purled. Continue with the stripes pattern until you reach the half length of the scarf minus 15 cm. Example: The length of the whole scarf is 200 cm. You knit from the middle 85 cm (100 cm minus 15 cm). Continue directly to chart 2. Don't break the sequence of the pattern and knit the decreases at the borders. Bind off the stitches loosely. The next step is to unstitch the chain stitches carefully and to take these stitches at the knitting needles. Knit chart 1. In the first you you maybe have to increase one stitch in order to make a perfect diamond pattern. Continue with the stripes pattern until the half of the length of the scarf. Continue directly to chart 2. Don't break the sequence of the pattern but knit the decreases at the borders. Bind off the stitches loosely. Keep the last stitch at your needle Chart 1:

Cast on: Attention! Use circular needles with a long cable. Set a stitch marker an cast on the stitches for the edge from the border stitches of the scarf as follows: put the yarn through the holes of the yarns over at the border stitches (which is 1 stockinette stitch), 1 yarn over. Repeat this type of cast on for the whole scarf until you have reached the stitch marker again. Following row: Purl all stitches of the edge. Following rows: Knit a hole row by knitting 2 stitches together and 1 yarn over (k2tog, YO). Then you purl one row. The last row you knit in stockinette stitch. Bind off loosely. Chart 3: Edge

(Who doesn't like to purl as me, can instead of the purled rows turn over the scarf, produce a double-stitch and knit one row in stockinette stitch until the stitch marker, make one double stitch and turn over the scarf again. Here you can see how to make the double stitch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnt 6Vq 000 minute no. 2:30.

If you don't like waves at the edge, knit the edge with smaller needles.
Completion:
Weave the ends. Then you wash the scarf in warm water with wool washing powder. Rinse carefully. Squeeze out the scarf carefully, wrap it into a towel and squeeze out again. After that you block the scarf. You can block points at the borders if you like.

Happy knitting!
