Materials
3.5mm / E hook. 8ply yarn approx 1x 50gram ball. White yarn for eye Embroidery cotton for eyeball and mouth. Needle for sewing up. Fibre fill/ stuffing. Two small coins (5 cent coins in Aussie dollars) These are optional but they enable him to stand up and give good shape to his feet. This is a simple little pattern worked in single crochet. He has a pot belly and an all-seeing eyeball my son loves his little alien man. The yarns I have used are Sheppard Colour 4 me 4989 variegated 100% wool and Thorobred double knit 8 ply I00% wool. Finished size approx 20 cm tall, exact gauge is not essential for this project.
Body
Make a magic circle, 6 stitches, join and place marker in the 1' st Rnd 1- 2 sc in each st- 12 sts Rnd2- 2 sc in ea st- 24 sts Rnd3- sc 7, 2 sc next st, sc 7, 2 sc in next st, sc 8- 26 sts Rnd4- sc 8, 2 sc in next st, sc 8, 2 in the next st, sc 8- 28 sts Rnd5- sc 9, 2 sc in the next st, sc 9, 2 sc in the next st, sc 8- 30 sts Rnd6- sc 10, 2 sc in the next st, sc 10, 2 sc in the next st, sc 8- 32 sts Rnds7- 8- 9- 10- 11- 12- 13- 1 sc in each st Rnd14- sc 2, sc2tog. Rpt to marker- 22 sts Rnd15- sc2, sc2tog. Rpt to marker-15 sts Rnd16- 1 sc in each st Rnd17- 1 sc in each st Rnd 18- sc 3, sc2tog. Rpt to marker- 12 sts Rnd19- 1 sc in each st Rnd2o- 1 sc in each st Rnd 21- sc 3, sc2tog, sc 4, sc2tog, sc 3- 10 sts Bind off.
Head
Make a magic circle, 6 stitches, join and place a marker in the first stitch. Rnd 1- 2 sc in each st- 12 sts Rnd2- 1 sc, 2 sc in next. Rpt to marker- 18 sts Rnd3- 1 sc, 2 sc in next. Rpt to marker- 27 sts Rnd4- 1 sc in each st Rnds 5- 6- 7- as rnd 4 Rnd8- 1 sc, sc2tog. Rpt to marker- 18 sts Rnd9- 1 sc in each st Rnd10- 1 sc, sc2tog. Rpt to marker-12 sts Rnd11- 1 sc in each st Rnd 12-1 sc, sc2tog. Rpt to marker- 8 sts Bind off. Stuff head.
Eye
Magic circle 4 sts, join and place marker in first st. Rnd 1- 2 sc in each st- 8 sts Rnd2- 2 sc in each st- 16 sts Rnd3- 1 sc in each st. Rnd4- 1 sc in each st. Rnd5- sc2tog, 1 sc in the next. Rpt to marker- 8sts. \*At this point you might want to partially stuff the ball part of the eye before commencing crocheting the narrow stork section. Rnd6- sc2tog, 1 sc in the next. Rpt to marker- 4 sts Rnds7- 8- 9- 10- 11- 1 sc in each st. Bind off. Stuff eyeball stork. White of eye- Use white yarn and magic circle 4 sts Rnd 1- 2 sc in each st- 8 sts. Bind off.
Arms
Magic circle 4 sts. Join and place marker in first st. Rnd1- 1 sc in each st Rnd2- 2 sc in each st- 8 sts Rnds- 3- 4- 5- 6- 7- 8- 9- 10- 11- 1 sc in each st Bind off. Make 2 Legs Magic circle 5 sts. Join and place marker in first st. Rnd 1- 2 sc in each st- 10 sts Rnd2- BLO 1 sc in each st Rnd3- 1 sc in each st. \*At this point you can put the coins in the base of the feet. Rnds- 4- 5- 6- 7- 8- 1 sc in each sts. Bind off. Make 2
Finishing
Stuff all the body parts. Sew white of eye on eyeball and sew a pupil in eye. Sew all his body parts together and weave in any ends. Create your own mouth
