Requirements
1 skein Koigu Premium Merino 170yds/50g and 1 ball Crystal Palace Kid Merino 240yds $r_{2}{\tt s g}$ in matching colour, held together throughout; $3.5\mathrm{mm}$ and $4\mathrm{mm}$ circular or double pointed needles for your preferred method of knitting in the round; 1 stitch marker; 4mm crochet hook; waste yarn.

Gauge
24sts and $32\;\mathrm{rows}=4$ inches in stocking stitch using smaller needles.
Abbreviations
(pm) - place marker; (rm) - remove marker; slk2po - slip 1, knit 2 tog, pass slipped stitch over; yo - yarn over; m1 - make one;
Pattern Notes
The mitts begin with a provisional cast on at the base of the fingers and are worked down to the wrist, incorporating an afterthought thumb. The lace at the top edge is worked from the provisional cast on. To manage decreases over joins, the beginning of the round shifts a few times. Watch out for this symbol ${}>>{}$ in the pattern, and check where the charts line up.
Instructions
Using a provisional cast on and smooth waste yarn, cast on 40 stitches. Round 1: using $3.5\mathrm{mm}$ needles, [k4, p1] 8 times. Round 2: (pm) k. Repeat these two rounds (Chart A) a further 7 times. Next round: k1, using waste yarn k7, slip these sts back to left needle and k7 in working yarn, $\mathrm{k}$ to end of round. Continue working the 2 round stitch pattern a further 9 times or until desired length of cuff before starting lace. $>>(\mathrm{rm})\,\mathrm{k}2,\mathrm{(pm)}.$
Eyelet lace (Chart B)
Round 1: [kl, yo, slk2po yo, k1] 8 times. Round $2:\mathtt{k}$ Repeat these two rounds a further 7 times. $>>(\mathrm{rm})$ , undo last 2 stitches of previous round, (pm).
Edging (Chart C)
Change to 4mm needles Round 1: [k1, yo, k2, slk2po, k2, yo, k2] 4 times. Round 2 (and each even round): k. Round 3: [k2, yo, kl, slk2po, k1, yo, k3] 4 times. Round 5: [yo, ssk, k1, yo, slk2po, yo, k1, k2tog, yo, k1] 4 times. Round 7: [k1, yo, k2, slk2po, k2, yo, k2] 4 times. Round 9: [k2, yo, k1, slk2po, k1, yo, k3] 4 times. Round 11: [k3, yo, slk2po, yo, k4] 4 times. Round 12: k.
Picot cast off
Using crochet hook as ifit were aknitting needle, cast off next 5 sts, chain 3, slip stitch into last cast offstitch at base of chain. Repeat around, working picots every five sts. Edging 2 (Chart B + Chart D) Unzip provisional cast on, using $3.5\mathrm{mm}$ needles pick up resulting 39 live stitches, m1 at end of round. $>>\mathtt{k}3$ (pm). Work 2 rows of eyelet lace once. , undo last 2 stitches of previous round, (pm). Change to 4mm needles. Round 1: [kl, yo, k2, slk2po, k2, yo, k2] 4 times. Round 2 (and each even round): k. Round 3: [k2, yo, kl, slk2po, kl, yo, k3]4 times. Round 5: [k3, yo, slk2po, yo, k4] 4 times. Round 6: k. Repeat picot cast off. Carefully unpick waste yarn for thumb and pick up resulting 13 live sts on two $3.5\mathrm{mm}$ needles. Pick up a further 2 stitches at each side of thumb - 17 sts total. Knit 10 rounds.

Mini picot cast off: cast off 3 stitches, chain 1, - -p - sl st into last cast offst, rpt to last 2 sts, cast off 2 sts, make picot. Make second mitt exactly the same, darn in ends and block.
