Reversible Textured Design: Scarf and Cowl Knitting Patterns with Detailed Instructions and Material Recommendations

This east 2 row, reversible, textured design is perfect for either a scarf or cowl. Patterns for both are included. Materials: Yarn of your choice and needle size to obtain desired texture. A smooth nonvariegated or long color change yarn is recommended in order to better show the textured pattern design. Yarn needle for weaving in ends and for optional kitchener bind off. The scarf in photo was knit on US 10 %2 needles with aran weight yarn and is 4 %2 “X 70". For Scarf: Cast on 26 stitches. Knit sections A and B alternately, until desired length achieved, ending after completing a Section A. Bind off.

For Cowl:

Using provisional method, cast on 32 stitches. Knit sections A and B alternately until piece measures approximately 60" or until desired length. Graft two ends together using kitchener stitch.

OR

If you prefer not to use provisional cast on 32 stitches, knit as above. Bind off, then sew two ends together.

Section A:

Section B: Row 1: K2P2 across, ending with K2.. Row 2: Knit Row 1: K2P2 across, end with K2. Row 2: Purl Rows 3 to 12: Repeat rows 1 and 2 five more times. 12 rows total. Rows 3 to 10: Repeat rows 1 and 2 four more times: 10 rows total.
