Kitchener Stitch
Step I: Bring threaded tapestry needle through first stitch on front needle as if to purl and leave stitch on needle. Step 2: Bring threaded tapestry needle through first stitch on back needle as ifto knit and leave stitch on needle. Step 3: Bring threaded tapestry needle through first stitch on front needle as if to knit and slip this stitch off needle, then bring tapestry needle through next stitch on front needle as if to purl and leave stitch on needle. Step 4: Bring threaded tapestry needle through first stitch on back needle as if to purl and slip this stitch off needle, then bring tapestry needle through next stitch on back needle as if to knit and leave stitch on needle. FINISHING
Return 6 (6, 8, 8, 8, 10, 10, 10) sts from one underarm and 6 (6, 8, 8, 8, 10, 10, 10) sts from one sleeve to dpns and graft them together using the Kitchener stitch. Repeat for second underarm. Block piece to finished measurements. With RS facing and circular ndl, beg at right front bottom edge, pick up and knit approx 2 sts for every 3 rows along the right front (Note: The final count is not crucial, ensure there are no gaps and no ruching/flaring.) Work in Garter st for I4 rows, ending after a RS row. BO purlwise. (Note: If buttonholes are desired on right front, when working the 6th row, place the correct number evenly distributed, create buttonholes by BO 3 sts on this row and CO 3 on the 7th row to close the hole.) With RS facing and circular ndl, beg at lower edge of left front neck, continue same as for right front band. Weave in all ends. Block again if desired.
