pattern:Rosa Tom Size: XS/S (M/L) Hook: H / 5 mm Yarn: Madelinetosh vintage or any worsted weight yarn The pattern is in US terminology ST-Stitch SL ST- Slip Stitch SC - Single Crochet HDC-Half Double Crochet FPHDC-FrontPost Half Double Crochet The hat is worked in continious rounds (spiral) and I recommend usingstitchmarkertomarkthebeginningofrounds.

I reccomend to stop increasing when the piece is about 1- 2 cm smaller than the top of your head. Start with a magic ring. Round 1 - 10 HDC into magic ring (10 st) Round 2 - \*2 HDC in next stitch\* x10 (20 st) Round 3 - \*2 HDC in next stitch, 1 FPHDC\* x10 (30 st) Round 4 - \*2 HDC in next stitch, 1 HDC, 1 FPHDC\* x10 (40 st) Round 5 - \*2 HDC in next stitch, 1 FPHDC, 1 HDC, 1 FPHDC\* x10 (50 st) Round 6 - \*2 HDC, 1 FPHDC, 2 HDC in next stitch, 1 FPHDC\* x10 (60 st) Round 7 - \*2 HDC in next stitch, 1 HDC, 1 FPHDC, 2 HDC, 1 FPHDC\* x10 (70 st) Round 8 - \*3 HDC, 1 FPHDC, 2 HDC in next stitch, 1 HDC, 1 FPHDC\* x10 (80 st) Now stop increasing for the smaller size Round 9 - \*3 HDC, 1 FPHDC\* x20 (80 st) Repeat the last round 21 times. Finish off with 2 SC, 2 SL ST, break yarn and weave in ends. Continuefor the larger size Round 9 - \*2 HDC in next stitch, 2 HDC, 1 FPHDC, 3 HDC, 1 FPHDC\* x10 (90 st) Round 10 - \*4 HDC, 1 FPHDC, 2 HDC in next stitch, 2 HDC, 1 FPHDC\* x10 (100 st) Round 11 - \*4 HDC, 1 FPHDC\* x20 (100 st) Repeat the last round 19 times. Finish off with 2 SC, 2 SL ST, break yarn and weave in ends.

I recommend using a smaller hook for the last 2-3 rounds. It's easy to adjust the pattern for different sizes and yarn weight. You can skip 2 increase rounds for a smaller size or add 2, 4 or more increase rounds for a larger size. Just rembember that there needs to be an even number of HDC stitches between FPHDS stitches.
