Get your knitting meditation groove on with this easy cowl. Based on the auspicious number 108 and in worsted weight yarn, peace will settle over you as you knit. This is knit fat in stockinette with the edges unabashedly curling in and grafted together at the ends. It can be double or triple wrapped around the neck. There are many cowls out there, this is not original idea but just another to share. Provisional cast on, knit, purl, Kitchener stitch.
MATERIALS:
Three skeins of worsted weight yarn (2o0 yards of each). I used Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage in Ginger and Warm Maize, and Mad Color Fiber Arts Sweet in Pharaoh's Gold. One set of size 8 needles, circular or straight. A needle for weaving in ends.
GAUGE:
18 stitches and 22 rows to 4 inches blocked. Gauge doesn't matter too much for this piece.
FINISHED SIZE:
66" in diameter, width is 11" uncurled or about 6" with the curl. Copyright 2Oll by Misa Erder. All rights reserved. This pattern is for personal use only and cannot be sold, distributed, or re-knit for profit. Designer can be contacted at www.misaerder.com or http://craftivore.blogspot.com/ The edges are intended to curl in, they will curl in strongly as you knit and relax somewhat after blocking. If you prefer that the edges don't curl in an alternative might be to add six garter stitches on either side.
