Place two stitch markers: One before the first stitch, one behind the 32 stitch. Follow chart 1 and chart 2 and knit 23 rounds in cuff patternk2/p2. Attention: The following round 24 (marked yellow) is OPTIONAL - only needed, if a thicker cord will be used as closure later. A thinner cord could just be drawn into the fabric with the help of a darning needle or crochet hook. In this case just repeat round 23 twice instead of knitting rounds 24 and 25. Round 24: k2, \*p1, YO, k2tog, k1\*, repeat from\*. The last stitch before and the first stitch after the stitch marker will be knit together, so rearrange the markers one stitch to the right each. Round 25: k2, \*p1, k3\*, repeat from\* until 2 stitches are left until the end of round, p1, k1. Body Knit 30 rounds (round 26 til 52), or follow your own pattern. Work the body according to your own layout and taste! Fair-lsle-borders, lace repeats, intarsia or beads can be incorporated. · Chart 1 and Chart 2 may serve as a tool to transfer fair-isle patterns or duplicate stitch motives.

Bottom

(rounds 53-76) Work a round bottom following the charts. (Decreases: Behind each stitch marker k1, ssk, continue in basic pattern, before each stitch marker k2tog the third and second last stitches, k1. This way you decrease 2 stitches in every decrease round.) After first decrease round you decrease twice in every third round, 4 times in every second round and 6 times in every round = 12 stitches remaining. Graft together in Kitchener Stitch.

Finishing

Take a satin band or bias tape or a 30 cm long self-made cord (you can also use two cords for the classical drawstring-closure). Pull it through the fabric in cuff round 24. Knot the end(s) or maybe garnish with a nice bead or button. Optionally embroider, sew on seperately crocheted or knit ornaments, garnish with braids, charms or buttons, pin some badges, etc. - live out our fantasy, the sky's the limit! @ here some inspirational links: Ravelry-projects with appliques/embellishments Just one example of a ravelry-search ,fair-isle" Google picture research for ,cords" Your gorgeous Mala Bag is ready to go now as a transport bag, treasure bag, reusable gift wrap..what will youkeep inside?
