A provisional cast-on is used to add stitches for the sleeves, workingtheback beforethefront. When thebackisfinished, removetheprovisionalcast-onforthesleevesandpickupthe resulting loops to work the sleeves for the front. If you do not wish to use a provisional cast-on, use a regular long-tail method to cast on stitches for the back sleeves, then when beginning the front, pick up and knit stitchesfor thefront sleevesin thecaston loops of theback sleeves. When measuring length, hold theneedlewith thestitches on it so work hangs freely, then measure length.
