13 sts and 18 rows = 4", in Garter Rib pattern with smaller needles. To save time, take time to check gauge.

STITCH GLOSSARY
Garter Rib Patt for Back and Front (over multiple 4 + 2 sts) Row 1 (RS): \*K2, p2. Repeat from \* to last 2 sts, k2. Row 2: Purl across. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for pattern. Garter Rib Patt for Sleeves and Collar (over muitiple 4 + 2 sts) Row 1 (RS): \*P2, k2. Repeat from \* to last 2 sts, p2. Row 2: Purl across. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for pattern. Fully-fashioned increases: On RS rows, work 4 sts in pattern as established, M1, work across until 4 sts remain in row; end row with M1, work pattern as established across last 4 sts. ABBREVIATIONS

BACK
With smaller pair of needles, cast on 58 (66, 70, 78, 82, 86) sts. Begin Garter Rib Pattern for Front and Back, and work even until piece measures approximately 16%2" from beginning, ending after WS row.
Shape Armholes
Bind off 6 (6, 6, 10, 10, 10) sts at beginning of next two rows. Then work fully-fashioned decreases each side, every row 1 (2, 2, 2, 2, 2) times and every other row 1 (2, 4, 2, 4, 4) times-- 42 (46, 46, 50, 50, 54) sts remain. Continue even until piece measures approximately 25" (25%2", 25%2", 26", 26", 26") from beginning, ending after WS row.
Shape Shoulders
Bind off 6 (6, 6, 7, 7, 8) sts at begin of next two rows, then 5 (7, 6, 7, 6, 7) sts at beginning of next two rows——20 (20, 22, 22, 24, 24) sts remain. Bind off remaining stitches.
FRONT
Same as back until piece measures approximately 23" (23%2", 2312", 24", 24", 24)" from beginning, ending after WS row.
Shape Neck
Work across first 16 (18, 18, 20, 20, 22) sts, join second ball of yarn and bind off middle 10 sts, work across remaining 16 (18, 18, 20, 20, 20) sts. Working both sides at once with separate balls of yarn, bind off 2 (2, 3, 3, 4, 4) sts each neck edge once; 2 sts each neck edge once; and 1 st each neck edge on next row —11 (13, 12, 14, 13, 15) sts remain on each side. Continue even until piece measures same as back to shoulders. Shape Shoulders Same as back.
SLEEVES (Make 2)
With smaller needles, cast on 30 sts. Begin Garter Rib Pattern for Sleeves, and work fully-fashioned increases each side every 10th (8th, 8th, 6th, 6th, 6th) row 6 (3, 3, 2, 10, 10) times and then every 12th (10th, 10th, 8th, 8th, 8th) row 2 (6, 6, 9, 3, 3) times, working new stitches into pattern as they accumulate46 (48, 48, 52, 56, 56) sts. Continue even until piece measures approximately 1812" from beginning, ending after WS row.
Shape Cap
Bind off 6 (6, 6, 10, 10, 10) at beginning of next two rows. Then work fullyfashioned decreases each side every row 1 (2, 2, 2, 2, 2) times and every other RS row 1 (2, 4, 2, 4, 4) times. Continue working fully-fashioned decreases every 2 (2, 6, 10, 8, 8) rows 3 (3, 1, 1, 1, 1) times and every 4 (4, 8, 12, 10, 10) rows 3 (3, 1, 1,1, 1) times - 18 (18, 20, 20, 20) sts remain. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of next four rows - 10 sts remain. Bind of remaining stitches.

FINISHING
With tapestry needle and matching yarn, sew both shoulder seams.
Neckband
With RS facing, measure along the front neckline approximately 3" down from left shoulder. Place a marker for starting point of neckband. Pick up 60 (60, 64, 64, 68, 68) sts evenly-spaced around neckline. Join and place a marker to indicate beginning of rounds. Establish Garter Rib pattern as follows: First Round (RS): \*K2, p2; repeat from \* to end. Second Round: Purl around. Continue to work Garter Rib as established for 3"; ending after an all purl round.
Split Collar
On last purl row, work to 1 st before marker. Turn. Next Row: P1, M1, \*k2, p2. Repeat from \* until 1 st before marker, ending with M1, p1. Turn. Continue working back and forth in rows of Garter Rib pattern until collar measures approximately 7" from beginning. Change to larger circular needle, and continue working back and forth in rows of Garter Rib pattern until collar measures approximately 9%2" from beginning. Bind off all stitches in pattern.
Finishing
Set in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams, leaving lower 3" open at bottom hem edge for side slits. Sew button to front of collar. Block. x
