Mai Tais are popular, refreshing drinks. They bring joy to the hearts of those who imbibe. The Mai Dai Slouch Hat, like the Mai Dai socks are popular and fun to knit from beginning (by choosing your own hand-dyed-to-order yarns from the Galloping Jester, LLC) to end. Background is knitted using Jennifer's dyed-for-you Moonbeam-with sparkles! And the main coloralso your choice-- Jennifer will dye for you in her Goldilocks base. Like Mai Tais, the Mai Dai Slouch hat, with its luscious drape and feel is sure to bring joy to the hearts of those who wear it! Size: Adult and Teen - approx. 21'"-23" circumference Materials: 1 hand-dyed skein each (your choice!) GallopingJester's Moonbeam and Goldilocks. Jennifer will special dye your yarn to order! Choose from her many, vibrant colors. How cool is THAT?! One long circular needle, two circular needles, or 5 DPNs, size #3 or whatever size gives you the correct gauge working in the round; stitch marker; tapestry needle Gauge: 32 stitches and 32 rounds = 4” using #3 needle Abbreviations: K2TOG= knit 2 stitches together Instructions: With circular needle, CO 136 sts using Moonbeam. Join to work in the round taking care not to twist stitches. Knit six rounds corrugated rib (see CHART A) using Goldilocks for knit sts and Moonbeam for purl sts. ncrease round: Using Moonbeam, inc evenly to 170 sts (knit 4, make 1 around) Follow CHART B (17 repeats per round) for 68 rounds, decreasing as indicated and switching to DPNs when necessary. After round 68, with 17 sts on the needles, k2tog around. 8/9 sts remain. K2tog around again, leaving 4/5 sts. Knit last 4/5 sts for 5 rounds; cut yarn leaving a tail several inches long. Move all sts from needles to tapestry needle, and pull tightly. Secure from the inside. Finishing: Tie and weave in or trim all color change ends. Wash and block to fit.
