Materials:
Peaches & Creme Worsted Cotton in two colors Sample shown in light green $\&$ white US Size 7 $\mathsf{(4.5\ m m)}$ $16^{\prime\prime}$ circular needles 4 mm (Size G) crochet hook Tapestry Needle Gauge 19 sts and 40 rows to 4 inches in pattern
PATTERN:
This pattern is slightly unusual. You MUST use circular needles. Instead of working two rows in a color, you just work one. For example, you would work a right side row with the green, then work a right-side row with the white. Then you would work a wrong-side row with the green, and fllow with a wrong side row with the white. So pay attention. And if you put this work down, you might want to note somehow what's coming up next! Work the 36-row repeat over 40 stitches twice for 72 rows. Then work rows one through nine a final time. 80 rows completed.

Simple Crochet Lace Border

You can work the crochet lace in either color. I like the white because it gives the washcloth an old-fashioned feel. This lace only uses three crochet stitches: single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), and chain (ch). So even a crochet beginner can manage this. There are only two rounds of crochet lace. The lace will create a slight ruffle effect. Rnd 1: sc around the entire washcloth - to work the corners, sc 3 times in each corner. Rnd 2: $^{*}\mathsf{s c}.$ , ch1, skip 1 st, dc 3x in the next st, ch1, skip $1\,{\mathsf{s t}}^{*}$ repeat from \* to \* til end of rnd - to work the corners, do not skip sts in the 3 sts that make up the corners. After completing the crochet lace border use a tapestry needle to weave in all ends.
