Petit Allégro Ponchette
Designed by Linda W. Browning, Tinyknit on Ravelry. This pattern is for a ponchette using fingering or sport yarn. It is knitted in the round, so there is no sewing involved. Don't be concerned by the large number of charts you see! They are included more for ideas of how you can customize your ponchette's size. Think of this pattern as a recipe to make this ponchette your own! The Transition Charts are used to make your project wider, so that your ponchette won't be too straight vertically. Each may be knitted one time only. All of the other charts may be knitted as many times as you'd like, or you may even skip some of them. For the size small pink ponchette, I used the following charts: Chart A twice, Chart B twice, Transition C once, Chart C once and Transition D once. The beads in knitted into Transition D. This is fingering (sock) yarn with small needles. For the size large blue ponchette, I used the following charts: Chart A once, Chart B once, Transition C once, Chart C once, Transition D once, Transition E once, Transition F first row only, Transition G once. The beads are knitted in Transition G. This is sport weight yarn with larger needles.

Supplies:
US size 4 and 6 circular needles for size small This is $3.50\mathsf{m m}$ and 4.00mm. US size 6 and 8 for size large. This is size 4.00mm and 5.00mm.

Your smaller sized needles should be 29" long or less. Your larger needles may be a bit longer. Fingering to sport weight yarn, at least 400 yards or 366 meters. If you'd like a longer or larger poncho, you will definitely need more yarn. Optional beads size 6, also called E beads, about 200, but you may use as many as you wish. Small steel crochet hook US size 12-14 or thin piece of wire for optional beading
Gauge:
Gauge is not crucial for this project, particularly in the number or rows per inch lengthwise. However, if your gauge is too large or small in the ribbing section, your ponchette may not fit properly. Approximately 5 stitches per inch (5 stitches to $2.54\mathsf{c m}^{\prime}$ will yield a diameter of 32 inches or 81cm. Six stitches per inch (6 per 2.54 cm) will yield a neckline diameter of 27 inches or 69cm. These measurements are unstretched.
Important Notes to Read First
There are 16 repeats of the pattern per round of knitting.

Please see the notes on ending your shawl.
