Naturally Dawn 2-ply [50% New Zealand wool/50% Silk; 171yd/156m per 25g skein]; color: 8; 1 [2] skeins 5 US #1/2.25mm double-point needles 2, 5/8 inch shank style buttons waste yarn or stitch holder Darning needle

GAUGE

9 sts/11 rows = 1" in stockinette stitch

PATTERN NOTES

CO- cast on PM- place marker M1- make one, I used lifted increases K2tog- knit 2 together twisted stitch- knit through the back loop of the 2nd stitch on the left hand needle, leaving it on the needle, knit 1st stitch on left hand needle and remove both stitches. I-cord- CO 3 stitches on a double point needle, move to opposite end of needle and knit one row, \*move to opposite end of needle and knit row\* repeat between \* \* until piece is desired measurement attached I-cord- CO 3 stitches, pick up stitch along edge, move to opposite end of needle, K2, K2tog, \*pick up stitch along edge, move to opposite end of needle, K2, K2tog\* repeat between \* \* until edge is consumed This can easily be converted into fingerless gloves by only knitting the fingers and thumbs until they are just above the first joint of the finger (about 1(1 %2) inch) and binding off.

CO 44(52) stitches. Work flat in stockinette for 6 rows. R1: K1, M1, knit to last stitch, M1, K1 R2: Purl R3-4: Repeat rows 1 & 2 (48[56] stitches) Knit 1 row. Divide stitches over 4 needles and start working in the round by knitting 1 round and PM at end of the round. Knit 2 more rounds. R1: K11(13), PM, M1, K1, M1, PM, Knit to the end of the round. R2: Knit, slipping markers as you go. R3: Knit to first marker, slip marker, M1, knit to marker, M1, slip marker, knit to end of round. R4: Knit R5-10: repeat rounds 3 & 4 R11: Knit to 8(10) stitches after 2nd marker (increasing stitches in established pattern), PM, twisted stitch, K1, twisted stitch, K1, twisted stitch, PM, work to end of the round. R12: Knit even R13-26: Repeat rounds 11-12, slipping markers as you go instead of placing them. R27: Knit to 1st marker & remove, K4, place 18 on stitch holder or waste yarr. Ring Finger

Divide remaining stitches between 2 needles, CO 3 stitches, placing on a separate needle, mark as end of round. Knit even until %2 inch less than finger. R1: \*K2tog, K2\* repeat to end of the round (repeat to last 2 stitches, K2tog) R2: knit even R3: \*K2tog, K1\* repeat to end of the round (repeat to last stitch, K1) R4: knit even R5: K2tog around (repeat to last stitch, K2tog 1st and last stitch of round) Cut yarn and thread tail through remaining stitches and pull tight Place 8(9) of the on hold 30(34) stitches on the front side of the glove, closest to the ring finger on a needle. Place 7(8) of the on hold 30(34) stitches on the palm side of the glove, closest to the ring finger on a needle. Pick up yarn and knit the front stitches, Pick up 3 stitches with a new needle from the ring finger, knit palm side stitches, and CO 2 stitches. Redistribute stitches evenly on the 3 needles, mark the end of the round and work in the round until piece measures %2 less than finger. Repeat decrease rows from ring finger.

Index Finger

Place the remaining 15(17) stitches of the 30(34) on 2 needles distributing equally. Pick up yarn and knit the stitches in front, pick up 5 stitches along the base of the middle finger, knit remaining palm side stitches and place a marker to mark end of round. Evenly distribute the 13(15) on hold stitches on two needles. Pick up yarn and knit front then palm side stitches, pick up 3 stitches from the base of ring finger and mark end of the round. Knit even until piece measures %2 inch less than finger. Repeat decrease rows from ring finger.

Thumb

Evenly distribute the 18 on hold stitches on two needles. Pick up yarn and knit the front side stitches, pick up 3 stitches along the joint, knit palm side stitches and mark the end of the round. Knit even until piece measures %2 inch less than finger. CO 3 stitches and do an I-cord for at least 2 %2-3 inches. Starting in CO edge opposite thumb work an attached Icord to the opposite end of CO edge and BO. Weave in tail of the I-cord in a way that it forms a loop. Weave in BO tail and sew button on opposite loop. Alternatively you can CO 3 stitches do a row or 2 of attached I-cord, do an Icord for the 2-3 inches (or whatever is needed to bridge the 1%2 inch of space and go around your chosen button) and then continue with the attached I cord until the opposite end of the CO edge.
