NOTES ON THE PULLOVER
This sweater is knit from the top down, with seamless construction. We begin by casting on stitches for the back to form the neckline and the beginning of the back pattern. Then we pick up and knit stitches for each shoulder to form the beginning of the front neckline. After a few rows, we pick up and knit stitches for the sleeve caps, and knit the sleeves together with the body. The top of the sweater is knit back and forth to form the placket and the front round neckline. Sleeve caps are knitted together with the top of the sweater, with increases every 2 rows, reaching the separation of the body and sleeves. Sleeve stitches are placed on waste yarn and the bottom of the body is knit up to the lower edge ribbing. Sleeves are then knit in the round with an elbow patch and ended with a ribbing border. We then pick up and knit stitches for the button band, on each side of the opening and we end with an I-Cord edge around the neckline. In “Techniques", there is a step by step photo tutorial for the sweater top construction. Each step of the construction is indicated in the pattern, with a number, included in the “Techniques" pattern, for example Step 1. not present in the child version.
