Peregrin Tuk, called ,Pippin", is one of Frodo Beutlin's best friends. He walks with him to the Mountain Of Doom in Tolkiens ,The Lord Of The Rings" in order to destroy the ,One Ring". With his smart and funny character he is namesake for this beautiful scarf. The scarf is worked in the ,Moebius-Technique" in rounds starting from the middle. The pattern is reversible, it will look the same from both the right and the wrong side. You need a circular knitting needle size 3 - 4 according to the used yarn. The cable should be at least 120 cm long. Further I advise a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round. The finished scarf has a circumference of approx. 140 - 160 cm. Its widht is approx. 26 cm. You need 150 gr of Sock-Wool or similar Yarn (for example ,Wollmeise pure"). If you like to knit the shawl with one skein of Sock-Wool with 420 meterage in 100 grams you have to reduce the cast-on about 36 stitches. d video-tutorial for the moebius-technique: https:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVnTda7F2V And here you find a very good example for calculating the moebius formula and the number of stitches you need to cast-on. The tutorial is in German but because of the pictures and sketches it is easy to understand (in my opinion): http://alpistrickbuch.blogspot.de/2010/01/mobius-berechnen-und-stricken.html The stitches for the scarf have to be a multiple of 18. In the shown example I casted on 342 stitches in the moebius-technique. Work as shown in the chart: 1. \* knit 9, purl 9 \*, repeat from \* to \* till marker, slip marker (in every round!) 2.\* yarn over, skp (slip one, knit one, pass slipped stitch over the knitted one), knit 7, yarn over, p2tog (purl 2 stitches together), purl 7 \*, repeat from \* to \* till marker 3. knit and purl all stitches and yarn overs as they appear till marker. Knit yarn overs like the following stitch (for example knit when the following stitch is a knit stitch, purl when following stitch is a purl Stitch) 4. and all coming rows: knit like shown in the chart. Up to row 1 and 2 only the right side rows are charted. From row 12 please note the pattern variation. When you have reached your desired width, bind-off in the i-cord-technique as shown in this video-tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEbaZ6COOYk
