Pattern
for intermediate knitters Suggested Yarn: Bulky, for example Malabrigo Chunky, I00% Merino, I12 ply, 104 yards, 100 g Number of skeins: 2 skeins main color (CI), I skein each in complimenting colors (C2 and C3) Needles: US I0 (adjust to achieve gauge) Gauge: 12 sts & 28 rows = 4" in garter stitch Introduction to the Freestyle Stole This stole is a nod to Bolt by Vera Valimaki. The pattern is a simple garter stitch. You start knitting a triangle with the main color. The increase is achieved by kbf (or knitting into the stitch of the row before) at the beginning of each row. A chain edge is recommended and described in the pattern. For the second part of the stole you pick up stitches on one side of the triangle with a second color. The pattern contains very simple short rows and intarsia in the third color. The final part of the stole is done in the third color with intarsia in the first color. In this part it's recommendable to carry the yarn, so you don't have to weave in too many ends. Thanks to my mother for knitting the first triangle and to Jane for test knitting and proofreading.

The number of remaining stitches after this should be about 44.
3. Part
Switch to third color (C3) on the right side, start with ssp, BOl and knit 24 rows with BOl on the right side after every 4th row. Reintroducing the main color (Cl) for 58 rows of stripe pattern - carry both colors Knit 2 rows in Cl, knit 2 rows in C3, repeat I0 times, knit 4 more rows in C3, knit 2 rows in Cl, knit 6 rows in C3, knit 2 rows in Cl, all the while BOl on the right side after every 4th row.
Finishing line
Cut yarn in Cl. Knit 40 rows with BOI in every 4th row on the right side. If you want the stole to be longer, add more rows. If you run out of yarn before you complete 40 rows, you can stop after any even number of rows. Count remaining stitches (should be I4ish) and BO approximately a third of the remaining stitches on the right side after every second row. Repeat twice and you should have no stitches left.
