Notes
When more than one number is given, the first applies to the medium size, the second to the large. Mosaic knitting looks complicated but is actually very easy. You will be working with only one color at a time. You will always pick up the new color from underneath. Most mosaic pattens tend to pull the fabric tighter. You may want to use a needle one size larger than your regular needle to knit the mosaic pattern for the foot. Swatching is highly recommended. The color changes are centered at the back of the sock to be less noticeable. The size of the sock can be adjusted by using a smaller or larger needle for a different gauge. For a small size, knit the medium instructions using a Us 1.5 (2.5mm) needle for the mosaic pattern, and a US 1 (2.25mm) needle for the rest of the sock.
Instructions
Cuff: Using 2.5mm needles and MC, loosely cast on 64 (72) sts. Join, being careful not to twist the stitches. k2p2 ribbing for 14 rounds. Knit one round, while evenly decreasing by 4 (0) sts. [60 (72) sts] Leg: Using 2.75mm needles, work rounds 1-28 of Puzzle Mosaic pattern once. Work rounds 1-27 one more time. Cut CC, leaving end long enough to weave in. Using MC and 2.5 mm needles, knit one round, while evenly increasing by 4 (0) sts. [64 (72) sts] Option 2 for leg: For a smaller band of color, work rounds 1-27 of Puzzle Mosaic pattern one time. Cut CC, leaving end long enough to weave in. Using MC and 2.5 mm needles, knit one round, while evenly increasing by 4 (0) sts.
