Silk Headband

Yarn: Handmaiden Fine Sea Silk 70% Silk, 30% Seacell purchased at North Shore Island Traditions,PEI Needles: 2.5mm This headband was made from leftover sea silk yarn that I had from a previous project. I have been looking for small things to make because I don't want to waste an inch of this yarn. I love it! This pattern is very simple and quick. Begin by casting on 12 stitches Rows 1-3- knit Row 4- \*k2tog, yo\* all the way across Rows 5-7-knit Row 8- triple throw into each stitch\* Rows 9-14-knit Row 15 - triple throw into each stitch Repeat rows 1-15 until band is large enough to fit comfortably around your head. The size will obviously vary for everyone. To Bind off-there are a couple of ways you can do this. You can either bind off regularly and then stitch the two ends together. The method I used was the three needle bind off. To do this, pick up 12 stitches from cast on edge on a third needle of the same size. Knit one stitch from the active needle and one stitch from the needle holding the picked up stitches from cast on edge together. A great video tutorial for this can be found at http: / / www.knittinghelp.com/ videos/casting-off \*To triple throw, wrap the yarn around the right needle 3 times before knitting into next stitch. When you knit back on the next row, let the yarn that was wrapped around fall off the left needle. This just creates an extra long stitch.
