eyes IDe Open SOCKS
by Heart of Jewell Designs

The sock above was made knitted by Sharie (aka slmwhr on Ravelry). It was knit with St Denis Boreale, 225 yds/50 g in various colors, with a gauge of 8.5 st/12.5 rounds per inch on a US 2, (2.0mm) needle. The leg and foot circumference, unstretched, is 3.5 in x 2 for a total of 7 inches. The foot length and the cuff to bottom are both 9 inches. It took approximately 167 yards (by weight) toknit one sock. Materials needed: 400 yds or 100 gms of fingering weight yarn size 1 (2.25 mm) circular needles at least 32 (81.28 cm) long In order to knit this sock you need to know how to: Co = cast on K=knit P = purl m1L = insert left needle tip under horizontal strand of yarn lying between stitch just worked and next stitch from front to back; knit into back of it. m1R = insert left needle tip under horizontal strand of yarn lying between stitch just worked and next stitch from Back to front; knit. WT = wrap and turn; http://www.purlbee.com/short-row-tutorial/
Toe:
Using Judy's magic cast on method ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVXLOG1L8LM ), cast on 10 stitches. The front needle will be needle 1, the rear needle will be needle 2. Round 1. K all stitches both needle tips. Round 2. Needle 1: K1, m1L, K to one stitch before end of needle, m1R, K1. Needle 2: repeat as described for Needle 1. Round 3. K all stitches both needles. Repeat Rounds 2 and 3 until there are 32 stitches on each needle, total 64 stitches. Tip: A stitch marker placed in a beginning stitch on Needle 1 helps keep track of the beginning of the round.
Instep and Soul:
Pattern repeat: Round 1. k5, p6, k5 Round 2. Knit Round 3. k5, p6, k5 Round 4. k4, p1, k6, p1, k4 Round 5. k3, p1, k8, p1, k3 Round 6 k2, p1, k10, p1, k2 Round 7. k1, p1, k12, p1 Round 8. k2, p1, k10, p1, k2 Round 9. k3, p1, k8, p1, k3 Round 10 k4, p1, k6, p1, k4 Round 11. k5, p6, k5 Round 12. knit Next using the pattern above: Needle 1, repeat pattern 2 times, Needle 2, knit. For instep and soul, continue in pattern until foot reaches desired length or 1 % iches shorter than desired total sock length, ending with row 12 of pattern.
Heel:
Needle 1, work row 1 of pattern. twice Needle 2 as follow: Row 1: Knit 31 stitches. Move the working yarn as if to purl. Slip the last, unworked stitch from the left needle to the right needle. Turn your work. Row 2: Slip the first, unworked, stitch from the left needle to the right needle. Purl the next stitch and purl across to the last stitch. Move the working yarn as if to knit and slip last stitch. Turn. Row 3: Slip the first stitch and knit across to the last stitch before the unworked stitch. Wrap and turn. Row 4: Slip the first stitch and purl across to the stitch before the unworked stitch. Wrap and turn. Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until 9 of the heel stitches are wrapped and on left side, 14 stitches are "live" in the middle, and 9 are wrapped and on the right. At this stage, you should be ready to work a right side row. Your heel is half done. Note: How many stitches you leave unworked in the middle depends on how wide you want your sock heel to be. If you want it a bit wider, do a couple fewer short rows. If you want it a bit narrower, do a couple more short rows. Now you'll work the second half of the heel: Row 1: Knit across the 14 live stitches to the first unworked, wrapped stitch. To work this stitch, pick up the wrap and knit it together with the stitch. Wrap the next stitch so that it now has two wraps and turn. Row 2: Slip the first (double-wrapped) stitch and purl across to the first unworked, single wrapped stitch. Pick up the wrap and purl it together with the stitch. Wrap the next stitch and turn. vs you will pick up both wraps and knit or purl them together with the stitch. I you have worked all the stitches and you once again have 32 "live" stitche
Leg:
id of the heel on a knit round, continue across instep stitches beginning wit Row 2 of chart. At the end of the instep stitches. Continue working in pattern around. There should be 2 repeats of pattern on each needle (4 repeats per round total). Work pattern for desired length of leg, ending with row 12 of pattern.
Cuff:
Work a K1, P1 ribbing around, for a total of 1 inch.
Finishing:
Bind off Loosely. Work 2nd sock, same as first. Block and Enjoy!!!! Chart 1. 16-stitch repeat, 12 round vertical repeat.
