Materials:

Size US H / 5 mm crochet hook 2 colors Worsted Weight Yarn (l used Red heart Soft) Size: baby

Abbreviations:

Ch = Chain ML = magic loop Sc = single crochet Sl st = slip stitch Hdc = half double crochet St(s) = stitch(es) MC = main color CC = Contrasting color

Important notes:

Crochet in a spiral, no joining at end of rounds so use a stitchmarker! You become the thick and soft texture of this hat by crocheting all the stitches in the third loop of the hdc in previous round, you find this loop behind/under the backloop of thathdc

Pattern:

Round 1: With MC, create ml, secure it with 1 ch, make another ch and 8 hdc in ml , close ml (no joining at the end, continue to crochet in first hdc Round 2: (sc, hdc) in first hdc, 2 hdc in each of next 7 hdc (16 sts) Round 3: (hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st) 8 times (24 hdc) Round 4: (hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st) 8 times (32 hdc) Change to CC, do NOT fasten of MC.

Round 5: (hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st) 8 times (40 hdc) Change back to MC, fasten of CC. Round 6: (hdc in next 4 sts, 2 hdc in next st) 8 times (48 hdc) Round 7: (hdc in next 5 sts, 2 hdc in next st) 8 times (56 hdc) No increases anymore unless you want this hat to be bigger.lf so you continue increasing 8 sts in a round untill desired width..than continuewithround8 Round 8 - 17: hdc in every st around (56 hdc) Change to CC, fasten of MC. Round 18: sl st in every stitch around (not too tight!) If necessary you can use a bigger hook for the sl st rounds because the hat may not get smaller! Round 19: sl st in back loop of every sl st from previous round (not too tight!) Fasten of with invisible join. Have fun with this pattern, it's made with love!!
