Lila Cowl

The Lila Cowl is a worked in the round in a chevron pattern. It is the perfect size cowl to keep you warm and toasty while adding a pop of color to highlight your face.
Pattern Notes
There are 2 versions for this chevron striped cowl. 1. The Lila Cowl by Pepperberry Knits written here is an intermediate pattern with inc that are worked using Left and Right Lifted inc. 2. The Lila Cowl by Lux Adorna on the next page is written for an advanced beginner skill level. The increases are worked using YO's. Both make a beautiful chevron cowl. The difference is skill and look. The Left and Right Lifted inc on this pattern create increases that lean in the proper direction for a more polished look. The YO inc on the pattern on the next page is an easier skill yet also creates a lovely chevron. Pick whichever skill level you are comfortable with. The Lila Cowl is worked in the round. Choose whichever method of knitting in the round that is comfortable to you. Use scrap yarn for the provisional CO. There is no need to weave in ends when you change colors for the stripes. To change colors cut the working yarn leaving a 2" tail. Using a square knot,tie the new yarn color to the tail snugly behind your last worked st. You wil work every color twice. Check your gauge. You run the risk of not having enough yarn to do the second set of stripes if your gauge is off.
Stitches
s2kp - slip 2 stitches knitwise at the same time, k1, pass the 2 slipped sts over LLl: pu and knit into the stitch 2 rows below the just worked st on your RH needle. RLl: pu and knit into the stitch one row below the first stitch on your LH needle.
Pattern
Using scrap yarn, provisional CO 84 sts. Using main yarn, k one rnd as a set up rnd. Join in rnd being careful not to twist stitches. pm. Rnd 1: sm, k to end or rnd. Rnd 2: sm, [k1, LLl, k4, s2kp, k5, RLl, k1] rep to end. (14 st repeat). Rep rnds 1 and 2 5 times more. Break yarn and tie on a new color. (Follow instructions given in the pattern notes above). Cont as est, working 12 rnds per color, using every color twice. Leave a long yarn tail to work kitchener st. Finishing: Place provisional sts onto a new needle, kitchener st these CO sts to the live sts just worked Weave in the ends from the kitchener st. Hand wash. Lay flat to dry.

Rep rnds 1 & 2 until you have worked 12 rnds total. Break yarn and tie on a new color. (Follow instructions given in the pattern notes above.) Cont as est, working 12 rnds per color, using every color twice. Leave a long yarn tail to work kitchener st. Finishing: Place provisional sts onto a new needle, kitchener st these CO sts to the live sts just worked. Weave in the ends from the kitchener st. Hand wash. Lay flat to dry.
