"Hedge Flower'
UK terms pattern by Shelley Husband 2013 http://spincushions.com/

Notes :
20 cm (8") block It feels like you are hooking this starting in the middle of a side, but it's actually the corner. It all becomes clear in round 6. I have written the pattern to start and end some corners in the middle of the corner. It may seem like an odd way to do it, but I think it gives a better result. The pattern is written to start some rounds with 3 ch in place of a tr. I like to start with a false tr instead. Here is a link to how to do this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi3RR070CvQ It is fiddly when you first try, but I think the result is worth persevering for.
Materials :
I used a 5 mm hook and 8 ply acrylic yarn to make the pictured square. I do tend to crochet tighter than most, so you may have to go down a hook size or 2 if size is important.
Stitches :
ch = chain bpdc - back post double crochet ss = slip stitch tr = treble crochet dc = double crochet st ch = starting chain
