Clue 1

Size: woman's small, med, large (7", 8", 9" ankle)

Materials

100 gm light fingering wt sock yarn US size 1.5 (2.5mm) and US size 2 (2.75mm) needles or size needed to knit to gauge Cable Needle Stitch Markers Tapestry Needle Gauge: 8.5 sts & 12 rows/inch in stockinette, using 2.5mm needles

Finished size for medium:

7 3/4" leg circumference, blocked and relaxed 7 1/2" foot circumference, blocked and relaxed 6 1/4" leg length

Notes

· When more than one number is given, the first applies to the small size, the second to the medium, and the last to the large. The size of the sock can be adjusted by using a smaller or larger needle for a different gauge.

Abbreviations

sl- slip as if to purl, unless otherwise noted. c2 over 2, left (c2/2L) - Slip 2 sts onto cable needle, hold in front. K2, then k2 from cable needle. c2 over 2, right (c2/2R) - Slip 2 sts onto cable needle, hold in back. K2, then k2 from cable needle. yo- yarn-over. c3 over 3, left (c3/3L)- Slip 3 sts onto cable needle, hold in front. K3, then k3 from cable needle. c3 over 3, right (c3/3R) - Slip 3 sts onto cable needle, hold in back. K3, then k3 from cable needle. k2tog/p2tog- knit/purl 2 stitches together. ssk- Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, slip another stitch as if to purl. Insert left needle through the front loops of the two slipped stitches and knit them together. sl 1 k2 psso (sk2p) - Slip 1 st, knit 2 sts together, pass slipped stitch over. PM- Place marker. wyif - with yarn in front. [ ]- Work group of stitches between brackets for specified number of times.

Instructions

Cuff: Using 2.75mm needles, loosely cast on 64 (72, 80) stitches. Join, being careful not to twist your stitches. Place marker to indicate beginning of round. Work rounds 1- 4 of Cuff (Chart A) four times. Chart is worked 4 times per round. Set-up for leg: [k15 (15, 17), p1 (3, 3)] 4 times.
