Beaded Clapotis Scarf or Shawl Designed by Gail Rhodes

I have taken the basic clapotis and added beads for the extra sparkle. It is made with a DK weight yarn (we used Trendsetter Merino 6). Three sizes are available, scarf, small shawl, or large shawl. Pictured above is the large shawl. Size: Skill Level: Specific Skills: Materials: Scarf, 9x61 (Small shawl, 14x53; Large shawl, 18x72) Intermediate Cast on, knit, purl, decrease, bind off. Trendsetter Merino 6, or Lane Borgosesia Merino Sei, or Classic Elite Provence, 550 (700; 1200) yards #6 24" to 35" circular (for the scarf you could use straight needles) Beading needle, 3 (5; 8) 20-oz tubes 6/0 beads (each tube as approx 230 beads), crochet hook size E 20 sts and 28 rows = 4" in st st Needles: Notions: Gauge: Note: To check gauge, cast on 24 sts. Block swatch. Measure interior 20 sts and 28 rows. If measurement is 4", you are ready to begin your project. If measurement is less than 4" you will need to re-gauge using a larger needle. If measurement is more than 4", you will need to re-gauge using a smaller needle. For most patterns, it will be OK if your row gauge is not exact, but you do have to have the stitchcorrect gauge. Construction Note - This piece is knitted at an angle from one corner to the other. The beads are knitted on and the drop sts occur as you are binding off. There are 5 segments of knittng: Segment 1, the set-up rows; Segment 2, the increase rows; Segment 3, the straight rows; Segment 4, the decrease rows; and Segment 5, the final rows.
Instructions
After you have completed your swatch (see above), load beads onto yarn, approx. 34 of a tube of beads per 125 yards of yarn. There are approx. 230 beads in a 20-gram tube.

Fringe
Load approx 130 (174; 210) beads onto approx 25 (35; 45) yards of yarn. The fringe will be attached along the both short sides of your scarf or shawl. Attach from the wrong side. \*From yarn where beads are loaded, tie double-knot (one knot on top of another to keep the bead from sliding off. Slide 2 beads up to the knot. Keeping the remaining beads near the ball of yarn, measure off 13" from the knot. Cut yarn. Tie another double-knot at the opposite end of the 13" piece that you just cut. Keeping one bead at each knot, using a crochet hook, attach as you would normally attach fringe. Repeat \* across every stitch.
